Q80011401 - I am booting Mountain Lion 10.8.5 from a RAID 0 volume on Areca RAID adapter. I upgrade to Mavericks (10.9) and run the installer and the system reboots, the installation hangs at the startup screen and I have to manually reselect Mountain Lion as my startup volume.

Apple stopped selling operating system DVDs in its stores or recovery disks with new

Macs, and switched to downloadable installers for OS X upgrades. OS X 10.9 can not

upgrade the RAID adapter bootable volume from the OS X installer package. You need

to use the DiskMaker X to build a bootable USB key from the OS X 10.9 installer package.
