Q10091311 - I'm trying to get a PCIe RAID adapter volume available as a LUN for XSAN. It seems that without FC hardware attached to a machine, I can't even start the service.

Since you don't have fibre channel hardware installed, you won't be able to enable Xsan in System Preferences. You will need to load the Xsan launch daemon manually.

For Mac OS X 10.8.x:

launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.xsan.plist

For Mac OS X 10.9.x:

launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.xsan.plist

You should then be able to get a volume set up in Xsan Admin. Apple only supports fibre channel storage with Xsan
