The ARC-1880 or ARC-1882 is a new product which the original kernel buildin driver does not
support it, so you must use the newest driver package to be able to support this new card.
For FreeBSD, the driver version must be 1.20.00.17 or later
For Linux, the driver version must be 1.20.0X.15 date 20100510 or later
If you use driver older than these versions above, the driver will be not able to recognize the controller and arrays on the controller.

- Q10011101 - The ARC-1880ix-24 doesn’t work on an Intel S3000AHV PCIe 1.0a x8 bus. The controller showed its BIOS during boot, windows couldn't find it. It was also weird that pressing TAB/F6 during the raid BIOS had no effect.
- Q10021101- I’m trying to compile the areca SNMP MIBs (any version) into HP-SIM. It is not possible for me. In my opinion the dependency MIB is missing.
- Q10031101-My Solaris 10 system has no floppy drive. I want to use the driver update during install, so I can boot from the RAID array. I extracted the floppy image (ARCMSR.DD) and burned the DU folder onto a CD. When I try to use this CD at the option 5 Apply driver updates, Solaris says "extracting software in /dev/dsk/c0t0d0p0" but does not install any package.

On both case after loading the driver I can read the partitions, but I cannot install the Operating System on it. The operating system report the following error: Windows is unable to install to the selected location Erorr: 0x80300001.

- Q10041103 - I have several Western Digital hard drives WD1002FAEX. This drives are SATA-II and SATA-III compatible but my ARC-1680ix-24 connects to this drives at SATA-Il speed. Is there any setting that I can use to force the controller to connect at SATA-II speed?
- Q10051103 - We have problems with the new Linux driver (arcmsr.1.20.0X.15-100729) for the raid controller ARC-1880. Our system is Linux debian 5.07 (lenny) amd64. - Q10011106 - We have a ARC-1880ix-16 card that is giving strange behavior. If we shut the machine down for a lengthy period of time, says 30 minutes or more, the next time it comes up, it doesn't see the Areca card. Instead, do a lspci shows a Megaraid controller. 06:00.0 Mass storage controller [0108]: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic LSI MegaSAS 9260 (rev 05) After a reboot, it shows this correctly 06:00.0 RAID bus controller: Areca Technology Corp. If only one enclosure is hooked up from the external rear SAS it works great, but as soon and I shutdown and connect another enclosure daisy chained to the first, it just times out and reboots over and over while saying waiting for f/w to become ready.
- Q10041106 - Pull out a drive that was failing. Replace it with a better drive of the same capacity. Hot spare immediately became part of the raid set. New drive immediately became a hot spare. Volume State is listed as 'Need Rebuild', but nothing appears to be happening.

Plug in the front backplane only, sees all disks in the front and plug in the back backplane only, sees all disks in the back. But if I plug in both the front and the back, only sees the disks from the front backplane, and all disks from the back are missing.
- Q10101106 - We just bought 11 x AS -1022G-NTF and added all of them a ARC-1212 on the riser card. What’s really strange is that the RAID boards run always during the POST (we can access to the firmware, build a RAID array, etc…) but when we are into OS, the system don’t see the RAID card !
- Q10111106 - I'm currently testing Mac OS X Lion on my MacPro4,1 w/Areca ARC-1212. There is a severe Problem with the ArcMSR.kext shipping with both Developer Preview 3 and the latest Developer Preview 4 (11A480b): Each RAID Volume on the areca controller is detected under LUN 0 and LUN 1 and mounted twice, which of course causes severe file system corruption.
